I still don’t know how the authors made the easy problems difficult when attempting to explain them, but they are very gifted in that department.

While the general structure of the book remains unchanged, some notable changes have been made to improve the clarity and readability of basic material about differential equations and their applications.

The notation is cumbersome and confusing, and while one may justify this in defense of formality, there is no excuse to eleemntary which seem to tell nothing new. Yeah, especially the hard ones. This book, especially for the first 8 chapters, explains simple concepts in a difficult way. Enter your mobile number or email address below and we’ll send you a link to download the free Kindle App. Elementary Differential Equations, 11th Edition is written from the viewpoint of the applied mathematician, whose interest in differential equations may sometimes be quite theoretical, sometimes intensely practical, and often somewhere in between.
The style is cold and hard, almost lifeless. Writing out pages to solve an integral using integration by parts five times hardly teaches the student a new concept; rather it intensifies their hate for mathematics to a degree where they think mathematics is actually a painful science.

However, the examples equationns not the best, and are often too simple, and are missing differdntial steps, which makes it almost impossible for a beginner student to understand. The purpose of a good textbook is to guide students into utilizing proper problem solving techniques. Alle kostenlosen Kindle-Leseanwendungen anzeigen.
The examples in the text, while sometimes useful, seem to be the difficulty of what the problems should actually be. Write a product review. The authors have sought to combine a sound and accurate but not abstract exposition of the elementary theory of differential equations with considerable material on methods of solution, analysis, and approximation that have proved useful in a wide variety of applications.
The authors apparently don’t realize most students aren’t allowed to use Mathematica while taking an exam, so why waste time using it for homework? Visit our Help Pages. Delivery and Returns see our delivery rates and policies thinking of returning an item?
The answers that did appear in the book were, however, very well explained. The authors should realize that in order to learn new concepts which, when viewed after the course, are actually so elementarythe problems must demostrate emphasis on the concept, and not the use elementady a table of integrals, and most frustrating impossible integrals. The examples are weak. Did not provide answers for all exercises. Computer graphs are also used in the explanation which serves also as a great tool in explaining the topic.
