I definitely am glad I decided to reread this one! Return to Book Page. It is easy to get swept away into a world that is lost without realizing it. It is spot-on in the issues it addresses, and he wrote it in the early 90s, which only makes it all the greater. I kept reading thinking that there would be a plot twist at the end. El profeta tiene el sello caracteristico de los exitos de ficcion de Frank: I’m not certain this story would stand up to rereading, but it did me incalculable good service as an early teen: John Barrett, Junior, wants nothing to do with the “religious pdofeta image of his father.

This story dares to delve into a controversial topic, but does so from the anchor desk of a top notch media center. The book also includes a great deal of repetition. In some instances, it strengthens the sense of futility or of being caught in a giant machine, as if life is a frani where the scenery never changes even as our existence screams along at a break-neck pace.

Jun 09, Karen Smith rated it it was amazing. It’s the reason that I still feel like news television is just a really great soap opera. Because what happened to Annie Brewer was evil and evil prevails when good men do nothing.

Prophet has many memorable scenes. Peregti get to see how news is framed. His comfortable world is being jarred to the breaking point. That it was presenting the opposing viewpoint in such exaggerated extremes that it was losing touch with reality. Refresh and try again.

He’s and excellent writer. First he hears wailing and groaning in his neighborhood that no one else can hear. What do they have to do with the mysterious and sudden death of a black teenage girl? Como presentador del popular programa de noticias “NotiSeis de las Cinco,” John ha descubierto que su productora esta actuando en forma incorrecta y que parece estar ocultando algo muy grande. At best, TV offers “news-adjacent” media – that’s all.

I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book. Peretti is the exact opposite.

El Profeta : Frank E Peretti :

If you liked Peretti’s other works, such as The Oath or the Present Darkness series, the trend in reviews seems to indicate that you won’t enjoy this as much. Reading this book during midterm election time made this extremely interesting.

It was nonfiction aimed at a general audience. Peretti writes well, and I was intrigued by the characters. Prophet was an interesting read. I think it also sheds light on the relevancy of the bible and how we really need to listen to the warnings and pay attention to the lies we believe and the truths we cover up.

I would recommend pairing Gosnell and Prophet for adult book clubs. This book is very different from the previous ones that I had read fl Frank Peretti, perettii there are no angels or demons, neither dragons but a lot of journalistic chaos and a lot of description of the management of the TV.

One of the most intriguing aspects was his portrayal of how the media manipulated information. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. First, Peretti does an excellent job of conveying the world of television news reporting.
